World Korean Language Speech Contest for Foreigners
The 14th ‘World Korean Language Speech Contest for Foreigners’ will take place on May 13th under the themes ‘My Favorite Korean Food’ and ‘Cultural Experience in Korea.’ Any international resident over the age of 18 who can speak Korean is eligible to participate. To join the event, participants must sign up online or via email by April 21st. Only those who have submitted completed application forms will be eligible for the preliminary rounds (April 29th).
The ‘World Korean Language Speech Contest for Foreigners’ started in 1998 in commemoration of the 600th birthday of King Sejong the Great (世宗, 1418-1450), creator of ‘Hangeul,’ the Korean alphabet. The event continues to increase in size and grandeur each year and has grown into one of the world’s biggest Korean speech contests for foreigners.
