'Please Look After Mom' Goes Global
Following its success in the United States, Korean author Shin Kyung-sook’s bestselling novel, ‘Please Look After Mom,’ is gaining recognition in other parts of the world. In Italy, the novel has already become a bestseller.
Moreover, ‘Please Look After Mom’ has recently been translated into French, marking the third novel by Shin, after ‘A Lone Room’ and ‘Li Chin,’ to be translated into French. With 20,000 copies in print, four times the typical amount for first editions, the novel’s first edition in French is looking to inspire the French readers.
Meanwhile, in addition to 18 countries that initially requested translation and publication of ‘Please Look After Mom,’ nine more countries including Serbia, Greece, Russia and Finland have requested translation of the novel into their respective languages, further bolstering the novel’s international acclaim.
